Speak! Good Human.
April 22, 2015 - November 7, 2020
Thank you to everyone who offered support, gratitude, and kind words over the years. Thank you to all who talked with the animals, delivered messages to their people, and helped facilitate communication, heal wounds, bring closure, improve situations, and give other species voices. Thank you to the 100+ teachers who contributed wisdom, knowledge, and support to learners through the site. And thank you to all the technology providers who offer their tools and services free to ventures like this one. In 5.5 years, Speak! Good Human featured many hundreds of animal teachers, welcomed learners from more than 55 countries who viewed 157,500 pages during 81,533 unique visits, and hosted 10 worldwide practice challenges. That's a lot of growth and learning and I'm proud to have been a part of it!
Why did you decide to stop offering free practice?
There is no easy answer to this. Let’s just say it was time. It was a very difficult decision, nevertheless. Will you continue updating the site with new content?
No. The content you see now is what will remain. Nothing more will be added. Will you still be running the Practice Challenges twice a year?
No. Where can I find the contact form on the site?
There isn't one. The site is no longer monitored or supported. I may be interested in running the site for you. Is that an option?
No. This was a very personal project that reflected who I am and turning it over to anyone else wouldn’t feel right. Plus, while the site was simple to use, the inner workings were complex, making it difficult for anyone new to step into. Can i email you directly to find out more details about why this happened?
Please don't. I understand why you would be curious, but I prefer to just move on from here without having to write a million emails about it. Thanks for understanding. Any parting words of wisdom?
Sure, since you asked, here are 10 things I learned through this project that may help in your own endeavors: 1. Everyone has the capacity to reclaim, nurture, and use this skill, though each will learn it differently, do it differently, and have a different timeline. 2. You can learn this for free, without this site, a teacher, or a class, though a good teacher will help you progress faster and more easily. 3. There are some really good teachers out there who offer the support and compassion and guidance that can make a positive difference in your experience. And like any other field, there are those who offer the opposite experience. When you are ready to choose, take a moment and use your intuition to feel which teacher is right for you. 4. Be respectful of others’ ways and methods. 5. Give others the benefit of the doubt if you feel wronged. 6. Communicate, don’t just assume. 7. Put yourself in the other person’s shoes before you attack or criticize them. 8. Don’t attack or criticize! Those are choices and you can choose differently. 9. Rely on your ego to protect and guide you, not harm others in the process. 10. You are a work in progress ONLY if you learn from your mistakes, faults, and misjudgments and keep expanding. If not, there are plenty of ways to keep yourself stagnated, distracted, and occupied with things that feel like progress, but are not. |
