The energy you are putting out while trying to communicate with animals telepathically may be hurting your success. But taking notice can mean all the difference in the world! My own dog snubbed me — again! In fact, it was the third or fourth time since I started down the path of learning animal communication a year earlier, that she left the room just as I was trying to telepath or practice some energy work with her. As she was my original motivation for wanting to learn this skill, to say this turn of events was a disappointment is an understatement. How could it be? How could I be failing at something I put so much into? I had the drive, the desire, the enthusiasm, the love, the intention. And it turns out, that was the problem! The revelation came just a few moments later when I reported this latest incident to my clairvoyant wife, who immediately had a little chat with our furry girl. Turns out, she was afraid. Animal chakras tend to be larger and more open than ours, and so they often are much more sensitive to the energies they encounter. My excitement — my willpower — was overbearing and too much for her. Her personality, as she explained to my wife, requires a much more calm, gentle, slow approach. And, of course, it makes perfect sense. Just like humans, animals are individuals and each has a different personality, tolerance, and preference. Your enthusiastic energy might be perfect for some, but off-putting to others. And this disconnect could be causing some of your animal communication misfires! Has this ever happened to you?Imagine walking by someone's house and suddenly a bright, cheerful woman bursts through the front doorway and heads directly for you. "Good morning! Isn't it a GREAT day?! Are you having a wonderful walk? Do you want to come in and chat? Oh, where did you get that beautiful sweater? Do you like these flowers I planted?!" Even to an extrovert, her energy and approach may be overwhelming. You may unconsciously take a step or two back, cringe or recoil, or even run! Successful communication is a two-way street. To blossom and flourish, it requires both sides to feel comfortable. A more thoughtful approach might have been the woman popping her head out of the doorway and giving you a friendly wave and a smile. You might wave and smile back, and feeling comfortable, add in a "good morning!" Perhaps that would open the door to a longer conversation or maybe it would be just enough to prime a future exchange — maybe after several days of just the smile and wave. It may go beyond your energy level.Just because you decide you are going to try to telepath with a particular animal doesn't mean they are ready for that, or that it's the right time, or even that your communication style and energy is right for building this bridge. A calmer, gentler, slower approach may be the perfect place to start until you understand your animal friend's comfort level. Since my dog "taught" me this, I've noticed how true it is. In fact, as I wrote this sentence, she came and put her head right on my lap in confirmation! But more specifically, I'm thinking of my friend's very skittish cat, Hooper, who I see every so often when visiting his house. While the other animals in this household love my visits and always stop by to hang out with me, this other cat stays outdoors, runs to hide when I arrive, and rarely shows his face. He does that with everyone! Early on, I fantasized that I would use telepathy to reach this cat — to make a connection and be one of the few humans in his life who he would be comfortable with and actually want to say hi to. But even after months of trying, earnestly trying to talk to him using my budding animal communication skills, no luck! Until one day I stopped trying so hard. I stopped putting out that willful energy that "I'm going to make this happen" and "If I'm just enthusiastic and friendly enough, he'll come around." When I stopped projecting all that and just settled into my natural gentle, quiet nature, you might guess what happened. I got a long visit from him — indoors, even! And to my friend's disbelief, it wasn't the only time. Hooper just needed a different approach to make him feel comfortable. I took the time to understand his style and it paid off. Everything animate and inanimate — including thoughts, beings, and objects — is made of energy. Being able to read it; becoming aware of the kind you are putting out there — and the kind those around you need — could be your next breakthrough in successful animal communication.

So glad you made your way here and are finding it helpful, Tas! Yes, have fun with animal communication. Lots of times animals wonder why we are so serious about it all. When you make yourself an inviting conversationalist, you might find everything changes for the better for you. Good luck!

This is very helpful; it confirms something I realized just two nights ago. Two of my cats, 13 year old litter mates, are missing, one since June 30 and the other since July 13. Besides the small, more everyday communications, like knowing when one of them wants some water, I have had two very remarkable telepathic experiences with each of them. I have been hoping to use this kind of communication to help me find them (we live in a heavily wooded area). What I realized the other night is that the remarkable communications I experienced with the two of them were markedly different. With one they were eminently practical, and with the other they were of an emotional and spiritual nature, and this second one, both times, served as a gateway to other animals, in one instance serving as the spokes person (spokescat?) for herself, our other two cats and four dogs. I think that if I want to use this communication to help me find them, I have to do it within each one's specialty, if you can call it that. I just don't know yet how to do that. I am trying to stay open to receive what I need, rather than trying to figure it out.

Stephanie, your experience sounds really heartwarming, despite the situation. And your approach of trying to stay open rather than figuring it all out sounds perfect. Wishing you lots of success in your animal communication and also for a reunion with your traveling cats. Sometimes it's just their path to leave (perhaps just for a little while) and do what they came here to do, and it's so difficult for us to stand by and let them.

Fabulous article and oh so helpful for me just learning animal communication. I practice with my own animals daily and this article is quite insightful as I venture out into the AC world.

Lauren, so glad you found your way here and you are enjoying the site and finding it useful. Practicing daily will take you far! Animals are as individual and diverse as people, and while some may be affected by overzealous energy, others thrive on it. Sounds like you are well on your way with your own animals. I wish you lots of success and good luck with the Challenge!

Wow this article really helped me! The example of the chatty neighbor lady really helped me realize that sometimes I'm just too excited! Thank you for creating this website. I dont have a teacher or the funds for a course right now. In fact there are less than a handful of animal communicators in the province I live in. Hopefully some day I will be able to volunteer my services to help animals.

Mary, so glad this site is here for you as you explore your innate skills and work toward your dream of animal communication! While many people find having a teacher helps them pinpoint areas to work on or accelerate the learning process, others learn this skill on their own. So never feel like you can't do this without a teacher! Keep going and you'll get there!
